LOVE TRUSTS ALWAYS
The best way for me to describe trust is when a blind man chooses to be led by people he cannot see to places he does not know yet believes they are leading him aright. That is the best descriptive illustration for trust.
If there’s love, there will be trust. If there’s no trust, love cannot walk forward. Our love for God must trust God blindly. He is the only one deserving of such trust not man. Though, love should trust trustworthy men without suspicion yet it must be with a benefit of doubt. God is the only exception to this rule.
Trust is not one-sided, the person trusting must love the person he is putting his trust in and the person to be trusted must prove himself worthy of trust. We must trust God first even before trusting people. Why? He is reliable. He is trustworthy.
Numbers 23:19 says, *"God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good*"?
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, *"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths*"(KJV).
A child trusts their father to catch them when they jump. They don’t calculate. They just jump. That’s how God wants us to come to Him. Of all the drivers that has driven me, I trust my dad's driving more than all of them. Those days, whenever he drives, I am relaxed but other drivers make me anxious. My story is a pointer to how we should trust the Lord.
Let's talk about trust in marriage. Love in marriage will only thrive if there is trust. I thank God I did not listen to some carnal counsel before and after marriage. I had people who told me "women cannot be trusted" and some still do but I don't pay attention to them to keep my sanity and my marriage intact.
I have heard alot from frustrated men who make statements like: "do not allow your wife know your income or your bank balance". Whenever I hear those things, I sense toxicity and deception. I am not throwing the experience of some people to the bin. However, one bad experience should not make a general rule for all of us.
There are couples who do not have an ounce of trust for each other. It is either the wife is checking her husband's phone to see who he's been chatting with or the husband taps his wife's line to know the men calling her. Such marriages do not last because their love lacks trust.
Some are in a marriage where there is no valid reason for suspicion or distrust. One of the two is incurably suspicious of the other without a valid reason. Sometimes, it is the two. Such happens where love is absent. Why marry someone you cannot trust with your life?
Often, I tell singles not to marry someone they don't trust. As a single, check if the person is trustworthy, before committing yourself to the person. In a true Christian marriage, trust&trustworthiness are vital aspects of love. Husband&wives must trust each other and be trustworthy. It is both ways.
