There is a story about a king who lost the leadership of his kingdom. Secretly, he opened the door for the enemy to entertain him every night yet he boasted about how secure his kingdom was.
The enemy used the occasion of nightly visit to study his city, the weakness of his security architecture and strategize on how they will invade. Unexpectedly, the enemy struck and took the reins of power from him. He lost the leadership of his kingdom. That is what porn does to its victims.
*VI.YOU LOSE SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP OVER YOUR HOME*
God designed the home to have a spiritual covering. The man/ husband is the priest who should stand between his family and God. He should represent his family to God.
A husband is supposed to be a priest in his home, to pray over his wife, speak God's word over his children, and set the spiritual atmosphere. Ephesians 5:25-26 enjoins husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church... that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word. This is spiritual covering.
Porn removes that spiritual covering over the home because the moral confidence and covering is broken. The boldness to lead the family against filth has diminished.
Spiritual authority and porn are not compatible. Some men have relinquished their priestly authority to their wives, a reversal of God's order that is not meant to be. In some homes,women pray more, lead and care more. Why? Sin (porn inclusive) took the spiritual authority of the man away. The boldness to lead is lost.
The Bible says in 1 John 1:6-7, we can't walk in darkness and still have fellowship. Secret sin breaks open fellowship — first with God, then in the home. Guilt has a way of silencing people. That is what porn does.
Porn makes its victims to be blind spiritually. In Matthew 6:22-23, Jesus said “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”
Porn darkens the lamp. A man who feeds his eyes with darkness cannot see clearly to lead. His prayers feel powerless to him. His Word feels dry. Not because God left, but because he has filled his temple with something else. Same applies to women.
Women are naturally gifted to be sensitive. When porn darkens their minds, they become spiritually insensitive. That is why we have mothers who have physical eyesight but lack spiritual insight. Their minds are filled with the filth of porn comparing penis sizes instead of divine illumination.
If all described above points to you, I want to let you know that you can be restored. Your restoration starts with repentance&accountability. James 5:16 enjoins that we confess our sins to each other. Secret sins like porn cannot be conquered without accountability because it thrives in secrecy.
Renew your mind daily with God's word (Romans12:1-2) and do what Job did to his eyes- he made a covenant with his eyes: *“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman*" (Job 31:1 NLT).
Let's pray the prayer of the psalmist in Psalm 119:37 says, *"Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways*".
