PORNOGRAPHY Pt.4

September 14, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 9 views

1 Corinthians 6:18 *"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body*".

*IT WEAKENS SPIRITUALLY*

I read an illustration about The Dirty Window. The illustrator likened our spirit to  a window. When the window is clean, sunlight pours in. You can see clearly. The house is warm.  Porn is like throwing mud on that window, one splash at a time.

After a while, the light can’t get in. The house gets dark, cold, and musty. You’re still in the house, but you’re living in darkness even though the sun is still shining outside. That’s what porn does spiritually. God’s light, presence, and joy are still there  but the mud of porn blocks it.

SOS 2:15 *"Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes*".

Porn is  a little fox that spoils the vine. Porn doesn’t just affect the body and mind. It attacks your spirit first. Porn, just like every other sin, it breaks intimacy with God. Prayer and bible study becomes dry and boring. Worship feels empty lacking inspiration.

I saw this quote somewhere and it says, *"Porn promises pleasure but it steals presence*".

It is impossible to be addicted to porn and still have a virile prayer life. Porn weakens the boldness and strength to pray. Satan knows that If he successfully attacks a believer's prayer life, his life line would be cut off. Prayer keeps us from sin and sin(porn in particular) keeps us from praying.

Porn also fuels guilt and condemnation. No matter how hard a believer tries confessing his positional righteousness in Christ, he will feel guilty and dry. That alone breaks intimacy with God and promote that feeling of "I'm not worthy of God".

The spirit of a man addicted to porn becomes dull and insensitive to hearing. At this point, the person begins to justify porn and find ways to excuse it. That is why I am wary of those who make light of sin. Their consciences have  become dead, probably. It is a dangerous thing for a believer's conscience to become dead.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 says, *"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron*".

If you are trapped in porn addiction, there is a way out. It starts with total repentance. 1 John 1:9 says, *“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us.*"

After this, a commitment to constant renewal (Romans 12:1-2) of the mind must follow. This is a life time task of every believer. Not only against porn but against all forms of sin. The mind is the seat of our actions. The tool for programming, cleansing and guarding it is the word of God.

Psalm 119:9 says *"How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word*"( NKJV)

Let's pray the prayer of the psalmist in Psalm 119:32.
