PORNOGRAPHY Pt.3

September 13, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 6 views

1 Corinthians 6:18 *"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body*".

*PORN IS ADDICTIVE*

I read the story of a teenager who was addicted to porn. His parents observed that he was withdrawn from everyone. Those hours spent alone in his room were used for viewing graphic Internet pornography on his phone. What started as casual curiosity escalated into compulsive daily use.

Due to his addiction,  he suffered severe sleep deprivation, dropping academic performance, and irritability. Whenever he tried to stop or restricted his access, he experienced intense anxiety and persistent cravings, finding it impossible to exercise self-control.

Often, pornography begins as a seemingly innocent exploration driven by curiosity about sex, but it can gradually spiral into an addiction that ultimately ruins and destroys many positive aspects of life.

There is spiritual and biological aspect of addiction. Most addiction recovery therapists tells us about how a neuro transmitter called dopamine is released into the brain to trigger a craving for more. While I am not disputing this as a scientist, I want to say unequivocally that negative addiction is also spiritual.

For instance, I observed that it is easier to get addicted to evil pleasure and substance than it is to get addicted to prayer, fasting, bible study, Christian giving and other kingdom consecrations. Why is dopamine not released into the brain to trigger us to want more of spiritual activities?

Why is there a struggle getting addicted to spiritual things? Where is dopamine? How come it is easy to get addicted to drugs or porn? This is where the spiritual comes in. Therapists have tried to get addicts commit to a recovery program but numerous cases of relapse exist.

Romans 8:15 says, *"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father*".

The text above shows there is a demon spirit called spirit of bondage. If there is a spirit of bondage to fear, that spirit must also be behind the bondage to porn addiction and other forms of addiction.

*You cannot counsel out a spirit, you need to cast it out and close the entry (habits) through which it enters*.

Most therapists do the latter by encouraging behavioural change but fail to cast out the demon behind the behaviour. That is the reason behind the relapses and struggles addict have.

If you are addicted to pornography, your deliverance is a combination of the spiritual plus decisive efforts on your part. The two must go hand-in-hand.

You have the authority to cast our the demon of pornography. If you have been held bound by this dirty and destructive demon, pray this way:

*Every spirit that has put me in perpetual bondage to pornography, I cast you out of my life in the name of Jesus Christ*.

*I purge myself of every impurity in the name of Jesus Christ*.

Action point

*I receive total deliverance from the bondage to porn addiction in Jesus name*.
