I know a missionary who worked among a tribe where young girls where sold into forced marriages. Girls as young as 2 years were sold to old men of 50 years for marriage. Fathers who craved food and alcohol sold their daughters to randy men for a pittance just to buy alcohol. From a young age, these girls were regarded as wives, abused, and deprived of an education.
This missionary worked among that tribe to rescue these young girls from these randy old men. His rescue operation involved paying a fee to redeem these young girls from these old men. That way, he rescued many young girls forced into marriages. I see the gospel in that act.
Do you know that was what Christ did for us on the cross of calvary? We were under the yoke of Satan. Adam sold mankind into the hands of Satan. Mankind became his subject but when Christ died, he redeemed us from the clutches of Satan and hell by paying for redemption. The price he paid waa his blood.
Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (NIV)
REDEMPTION is a vital component of the gospel message. This is good news. The bad news is that sinners are under the bondage of Satan. They are like men in a concentration camp awaiting mass execution. This paints the picture of men without Jesus.
However, in Christ, there is redemption. You need this understanding so that you can communicate the gospel effectively. Redemption is a vital aspect of the gospel and we must preach it.
