The gospel is too good to be true. There is something I want to share with you, it is not the common message you hear but when I found it in my bible, I was amazed at God's love and mercy towards those that come to him for salvation.
The message of RECONCILIATION is a vital component of the gospel. 2 Corinthians 5:18 says, "And all things are of God, WHO HATH RECONCILED US to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation".
Glory! God hath reconciled us to himself. There wouldn't have been a reconciliation If there was no quarrel or separation. Man's sin separated him from God. The bible says, "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity"( Hab 1:13).
Since God is too holy to behold iniquity, the sin nature we inherited from Adam must have dealt a great blow to our relationship with him. The psalmist says, "...And God is angry with the wicked every day"( Psalm 7:11).
The good news is that Christ came as a reconciler so that sinful man can have a relationship with God. His death brokered the peace deal. Through his death and sacrifice on the cross, we now have access to God. He did not stop there. Read the text below(2 Cor 5:19):
[19] For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, NO LONGER COUNTING PEOPLE'S SINS AGAINST THEM. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
This is wonderful. After reconciling man to God, the result of that peace making made God to stop counting people's sins against them. This is the good news every sinner must hear: GOD IS NO LONGER COUNTING THEIR SINS AGAINST THEM.
We need to shout this from the roof top, that any man in Christ is now free and his record of sins are wiped off. No record of sins kept for the man in Christ because he is a new man.
Hebrews 8:12 says, "And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins”.
A believer is a new man entirely. He is not a refurbished creation but a new creation whose sins have been cleansed and wiped off- no record kept.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new".
When next you go out on evangelism, let them know God has reconciled sinners to himself through Christ and that he is no longer counting people's sins against them. This is the good news they must hear.
