I have walked on narrow paths several times and I can tell you that it is not easy because there are grasses on both side. Sometimes, soldier ants will divide the road and make it almost impassable. It takes only the vigilant to see them and not fall into their rank and file. It is rare to see soldier ants across a broad way.
Every narrow path i've walked through in my life was used by a few people. You will never see multitudes walking on a narrow path. If you compare that with what you see on a broad way, you'll see all manners of people walking there. Close to every broad way are shops&markets where people can buy what they want. It is rare to find such close to a narrow way.
Jesus himself described to us how the journey to God's kingdom will be. In several places in the gospels, he spoke about it but the very one that keeps striking my heart is when he said the road leading to God's kingdom is narrow while the road that leads to hell is broad.
The narrow way is the way of holiness and I can tell you that it is not popular. Not many are walking on that path because it does not satisfy the flesh. The flesh tends towards pleasure but nothing of such exist on that narrow path.
The narrow way requires self denial. Self wants to satisfy itself and enjoy life but the demands of the narrow way requires death to self. We should not be surprised seeing multitudes walk on the broad way. It is the way of convenience and compromise. Truly, the broad way is attractive because of the convenience it offers.
Galatians 6:8 says "For the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life"( AMP).
Beware of what gives the flesh pleasure and deaden the Spirit. The broadway has things that feeds the flesh but the narrow way is strictly for men and women who chooses to live by the Spirit. It is a path of discipline.
1 Corinthians 9:27 says, "I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified" (NLT).
Anyone willing to go to heaven must realize that there is an unpopular path that leads there.
