When I was in secondary school, there was a slogan among students in pidgin English which says: 'borrow borrow make man rich'. The slogan speaks of a situation where a debtor becomes rich by living on credit.
I have had encounter with people who would borrow money to live well and look good yet they act as If they didn't borrow anything when they see their lender.
When the lender is asking for refund, some may resort into abuse and insult. Some would say 'government is indebted so what's the big deal'?
It is more painful when the creditor is accusing his lender by saying things like: 'and he calls himself a Christian'. The entitlement mentality some people mix with this attitude is disturbing.
You cannot deprive others of their comfort to be comfortable.
That is wickedness. Most times, people lend money to help not because they have in abundance but in response to a need presented by the other party.
To act smart and unconcerned about debt is to be callous and insensitive. It is painful that some believers act this way.
What about school fees? There are believers that would enrol their children in a school they cannot afford.
When you owe school fees, you deprive teachers their salaries.
There is nothing good about being indebted to live a life you cannot afford. If you are owing someone and you have refused to pay, go settle your debt now. Debt does not give glory to God.
It is unwise to take loans you cannot afford to pay. Very unwise.
The scripture is clear that we should not owe man anything except the debt of love.
Stop borrowing to live big and impress, nobody is looking at you.
It is wickedness to walk around looking good, fat and plumpy when your lender is growing lean because of the sacrifice he/she made to lend you money. Go settle your debt now.
