AVOID NEEDLESS CONTROVERSIES

March 05, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Phil3:15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

When I was a fresher in the university, I got into a heated argument about our different faith with a muslim guy from the northern part of Nigeria. The argument was so hot, if God hadn't taken control, i would have been harmed. It took God's intervention through a brother to quench the fire of that argument. Now, I've learnt to just share my opinion and understanding of issues.

Kingdom matters are not meant to be argued about because when understanding and conviction is absent, one would remain in the dark. Apostle Paul advised that those who are matured should take such a view of things and in case another person thinks differently, we should allow the HolySpirit to reveal the truth we know to such a fellow.

As believers, we all would not believe the same thing especially in what some churches call ' church doctrine'. The doctrine of Christ is universal but 'denominational doctrines' differ and would never be thesame till Jesus comes. Let's learn to tolerate others especially those from a different denominational background and not get into needless argument on who is right or wrong.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to tolerate others with a different view on issues In Jesus name. Amen
