DEAL WITH SELFISH AMBITION

March 07, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Phil2: 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

I am a keen observer of politics and governance in my country and in other climes. I discovered that electioneering and all the processes attached are complex and the period of campaign is a time of many ambiguous promises that may not be fulfilled. Some politicians cry on the campaign ground just to draw sympathy but deep down within, their concern isn't for the nation but for their pocket.

We as Children of God must be able to define the motives behind our actions properly. When your decisions and actions are centred towards the betterment of your own life without considering the well-being of others, then we'll say you are selfish. Why do you want that post or office? Why do you want that job? Why do you want to start a church?

It is better to disembark on a journey whose driver is 'Mr' selfish ambition. It takes humility to value others and consider them. If the political class can kill self ambition to death, the nation would be better for it. When spouses consider each in humility, there would peace in the home. Kill 'Mr' selfish ambition.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to live above selfish ambitions In Jesus name. Amen
