ALLOW HIM TO FLOW

1Thes5:19 Quench not the Spirit

Apostle Paul used the word 'quench' to describe what happens when you put-off a burning fire. That word has a similitude to when you're trying to put out fire and we know that he was referring to the fire of the Holy Spirit, Isa4:4,Acts2:3,Rev4:5. When the Spirit of God is moving or about to move, there are certain things we must be careful about so that the fire of God's Spirit won't be quenched.

I was in a service where comedy session was permitted, when the comedian got on stage, he put-out the fire of the Spirit in that service. I am not in support of bringing comedians to church, there are services where people should keep basking in God's glory either by speaking in tongues, dancing, singing or meditating on the message but a disruption of that flow by introducing a comedy session would cause a set-back.

Church protocols can also quench the Spirit. When we become too rigid and methodical, the Spirit of God won't flow. I think we should always align our services with the Holy Spirit so that he can move the way he wants. Avoid distractions that can quench the fire of God's Spirit. Being too conscious of our environment and people's perception can disrupt the flow of the Spirit. Allow him to flow freely from today.

Action point

I shall not quench the fire of the Spirit In Jesus name. Amen
