1Tim2:9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. NLT
For many years in the pentecostal circle even till now, some preachers are of the opinion that Paul did not want women to use jewelries and wear good clothes. That's far from it because if that was his intention then we should consider what he said about not wearing costly apparel. How can we define an apparel that is costly?
What was Paul really saying? His intention was that he doesn't want women to dress in such a way that will draw attention to themselves. Right from the ancient times, women have always been known to dress in such a way that will stir the attention of men provocatively. It didn't start in this generation. Women of that time lace the strands of their braids with gold and that takes a lot of time.
Dear sister of God, your dressing and appearing should be modest and glorifying. We should not confuse you with an harlot, God wants women to beautify themselves first with godly character like women of old. Your make-up cannot make-up for your character deficiency, build a godly character and be modest in your dressing.
Father, I receive grace to build a godly character and to be modest in my dressing In Jesus name.
