Matt27:40 "Look at you now!" they yelled at him. "You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!" NLT
The story of Jesus' death still amazes me. Not just because he died but because many of those who heard him preach and teach about his death didn't believe he would die and resurrect. I expected the people that hurled insult at him to just pass by and say 'thank you for dying for my sins, we shall be expecting your resurrection on the third day as you've said'.oh! He died of a broken heart.
Alas! The people that saw his miracles and heard his prophecies should have just waited prayerfully for the third day. Even some of his disciples doubted him. It was not the pains from crucifixion alone that pained Jesus but seeing the people he suffered and bled for hurling insults at him broke his heart.
Jesus has paid the ultimate price for your salvation. You may have seen his miracles, heard of his mighty acts in the church or even seen it without being born again. You may have a 'christian' name and church title. You may be a worker in church, enjoy the feeling of being in an ecstatic church environment without having a personal knowledge of the saving Christ. All these breaks the heart of Jesus everyday.
If you don't have Jesus in your life, celebrating easter, Christmas, etc is useless. Pray this prayer out loud:
Father, accept me as your son, forgive me of my sins and wash me with the blood of Jesus. Write my name in the book of life In Jesus name.
