Phil1:11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
When talking about righteousness according to the bible, we can take it from two perspectives. The first is what Paul called the 'Gift of Righteousness' according to the book of Romans5:17. This gift of righteousness is given to every one that gives his/her life to Christ, this is what makes us have a right standing with God regardless of our past. It is purely an act of grace not of works. God doesn't withdraw that gift because you sinned.
Another scriptural perspective to the issue of righteousness is what Paul called the 'Fruit of righteousness'. This is the outward evidence of our walk with Christ which manifests in our character and attitude towards God and humans. It is what we also call the 'fruit of the spirit', which depicts the attributes of Christ-likeness that all believers must exude. The proof of the gift of righteousness should be seen in the fruit.
There are believers who glory in the gift of righteousness but do not pay attention to the fruit that they should bear. John15:1-7 made it clear that we can only bear that fruit of righteousness if we abide in Christ. As we stay connected to the vine which is Christ, we the branches would continually bear the fruit of righteouness that was why Paul prayed that the Phillipian church should also be filled with this fruit of righteousness that comes through Christ. Stay connected to him.
Father, I receive the grace to stay connected to Christ so that I can bear the fruit of righteousness In Jesus name.
