1Pet5:8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. NLT
In Africa, it is a common believe that we have enemies. In almost all our churches, someone is praying against an enemy and some have even gone to the extreme on that. You can't blame the average African for praying against the enemy because the wickedness in African society is real. Be that as it may, who is our real enemy?
The opening scripture made it clear to us that satan is our great enemy. In most cases, people pray against their enemy with the mindset of praying against a woman in the village or at work. Though people may be wicked in their actions, the person behind the scene using them to perpetrate evil is Satan. Your prayers should be against the devil and his demons not a person.
You are wasting your time if you're praying that someone you know should die. If God in his sovereignty has a salvation plan for the fellow, your prayers are mere recitations. In spiritual warfare, your prayers would be more effective when you face your real enemy. Be quick to tell the devil not to mess up with your life In Jesus name and not that man or woman that you perceive as your enemy.
Satan, I command you to lose your grip over my life, family and ministry In Jesus name.
