A friend of mine wanted to study computer science in the university. When he was attending pre-varsity tutorials, he met a computer science undergraduate that knows nothing about computer, probably because his school wasn't equipped to pass on the practical knowledge to him. My friend decided to study another course. Today, he is an I.T. specialist with sound practical knowledge even better than some of computer science graduate.
It is a pity that in third world nations, we exalt certificate more than competence, there are lots of mediocre graduates with high grades but nothing to prove their worth. In fact, those in the academia are not excluded as well; some of our lecturers are local champions and that's why I advocate that if it is possible, every student that aspires to be in academics should have a solid international exposure academically.
Our God is not a mediocre, he created us for excellence. If you are praying to stand before kings, please build competence. Mediocres won't go far in life, if you've chosen to be a carpenter, singer, doctor,etc, be the best. Acquire relevant skills that will put you on top and not at the level of mere men. Kings love competent people, not mediocres.
Father, I receive grace to build the required competence in my area of specialization In Jesus name.
