Proverbs4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. NLT
When the bible talks about the heart, it may be referring to two things. When capital letter 'H' is used for heart, it is referring to the spirit in man but when the lower case 'h' is used, it is referring to the soul which is the seat of our mind, will and emotions. In this case, the scriptures is referring to your soul.
There's a need for you to guard your soul; your mind is a vital aspect of your soul that is receptive to all forms of information whether good or bad. In fact,
before your will and emotions can be active, the mind must have received information, process it and then act on it that is why the devil uses the instrumentality of immoral audio-visuals to pollute the minds of people especially youth. All the bad thoughts and evil actions of a man stems from the content of the mind.
Romans 12:1-2 enjoined us that we should renew our minds daily. When you load the word of God into your mind, you are guarding the gate of your heart. When you surround yourself with edifying materials, good music and wonderful people that can speak grace into your life, the gate of your heart is secured. What is in your heart determines how your life would be.
Father, I receive grace to mount guard over my heart In Jesus name.
