Ecclesiastes 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: and has no one to help them up....11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? NIV
DON'T DELEGATE COMPANIONSHIP WITH YOUR SPOUSE
Similar to what we discussed or shared in yesterday's devotional, just as it is not advisable to delegate parental training to nannies and school teachers, couples should not delegate companionship with each other to someone else. That sounds crazy? It is happening. One of the reasons why God instituted marriage was for the purpose of companionship. A woman fell into the sin of adultery with her brother-in-law probably due to her husband's prolonged absence. Worse has happened in this generation because of absentee spouses.
There are certain things that seems trivial but the devil capitalize on them to wreck homes. One of such is distance between couples. When couples are not living together either when they're young or old, the door of temptation is wide open. Living in another town within the same state or region is bearable to some extent though not advisable. There could be occasional visitations and family time from time to time. The worst I've seen is when couples live across the seas and continents. I always advise singles not to marry a diaspora husband or wife if they haven't secured a visa. Just my opinion.
Indirectly, leaving your spouse behind is another way of saying I'm delegating someone else to keep you company. This accounts for the reason why the spouses of some travelling business moguls and even pastors are caught in the web of immorality with house maids, drivers or gatemen. Don't be too busy for your spouse. I hate to hear that career pursuit tore families apart. The devil knows that if he can attack the family successfully, then the nation is prone to his onslaught. Strong families build healthy churches and great nations.
