Psalm63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
DON'T DELEGATE PERSONAL FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
In my early years as a believer, I didn't understand the power of quiet time in the life of a believer. I saw how my parents rose early to pray on their own before the general family devotion. My mum was fond of telling me and my siblings to practice the same thing but I just didn't grab it. She told us to find time to pray on our own and study the bible personally. She bought a jotter for us so that we can take notes on whatever we learn during our personal devotion. I tried my best in that regard but I was not doing it with understanding.
Partly, one of the reasons why I didn't take personal fellowship with God serious was because I knew my parents would pray for me and they'll teach me the word of God during the general family devotion. In my mind, I delegated what I should be doing personally to them. Does that describe your case? Somehow, we have some believers who cannot pray on their own, they rely on the daily prayers of someone they see as 'super spiritual'. They decorate their shelves with big bibles but they won't study only to pick it up on Sunday when going to church.
If you're in a love relationship with someone, you don't relate with the person by proxy, do you? One of the things that characterizes a strong and vibrant relationship is a two-way communication, affection and romance. Just translate the same idea into your spiritual relationship with God, the same applies. Enoch's personal walk with God was superb, God took him. Abraham's walk with God was exceptional, he became the father of many nations. What do you think would have happened if these bible characters hadn't walked with God personally? Walking with God is a personal adventure. You cannot know God and be deeper in Him if your fellowship with Him is not personal and consistent.
It is your daily consistent fellowship with God that determines your depth in God.
