THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DELEGATE Pt.3

Proverbs22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he would not depart from it.

DON'T DELEGATE PARENTING

I heard the story of a couple who were too busy to attend to their children. They employed a nanny to care for the kids. The children were fond of the nanny and they saw their own parents as strangers. When it dawned on the wife that her own children could barely recognize her as their mother, she quitted her paid job to be closer to her children. The reality of today's family life is that most parents don't have time for their children anymore but they have time for other things. So bad!

Some couples are looking for the easy way out so that they can delegate their parental duties and responsibilities. As a major player in the educational sector, from experience, I discovered that most parents are trying to delegate to school teachers what they should be doing. They end up putting all blames on teachers and school when their children become wayward but they don't look within to see where they've failed. In as much as I agree that the teacher play a very important role in a child's life, the foundation of a godly life must be laid by the parents not the teacher. You cannot afford to delegate your parental responsibility of training.

As an itinerant preacher of the gospel, the training of my children is the reason why I don't leave my children with someone and travel with my wife. If I'm not around, they must be with their mum. You must place a high premium on family. For the sake of your family, there are job offers you may need to turn down, there are life style adjustments you may need to make just to be there for your children. You can't be doing a transfer-prone job and your wife is doing the same. Everything isn't about money. Wealth makes no sense if handed over to children that have not been trained in the way of the Lord.
