Jonah1: 15 Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. 16 At this the men greatly feared the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him.
I have never read the book of Jonah without learning from the every time. Jonah was sent by God to Nineveh to preach repentance but he boarded a ship going to Tarshish. The sea became troubled, the captain of the ship and other passengers were afraid. They cast lot to know what was responsible for the turbulence. The lot fell on Jonah. He told them to throw him into the sea and they did. Instantly, there was calmness.
I have always taught about Jonah's disobedience but i have not looked at it from the perspective of those whose legitimate destination was Tarshish. You see brethren, the real passengers who were headed for Tarshish were right on track. They had good businesses to do in Tarshish and their goals were in order. The moment they admitted Prophet Jonah to join them on their legitimate journey, the trouble began.A Pastor friend told me he released some troublesome people from the church. There was peace after they left.
Your journey into destiny is a legitimate journey but never admit a Jonah into your ship. A Jonah-like companion is that man or woman who has a unique assignment from God but is living in disobedience, he is that man sent from God to spark the fire of revival but has chosen to hide under the canopy of your life's assignment. Some Pastors are holding on to people they should release. There are good people who do not fit perfectly into your life, you must throw them overboard. Don't be afraid to show Jonah's the exit door. There are relationship you need not hold on to.
Father, show me the Jonah's in my life's and give me the grace to do away with them In Jesus name.
