GOD'S EXTENSION ON EARTH

June 20, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Matthew25: 37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[c] you were doing it to me!’

Many times when we include medicals, welfare and community service in our outreaches, most people think we're wasting money. Some may even think we're watering down evangelism. To them, evangelistic missions or outreaches is simply about winning souls by preaching. That's partly true but not the whole of it. Showing love to humans whether they are believers or unbelievers is an act with eternal reward.

In the opening text, Jesus spoke about how he was cared for when he was sick, how someone visited him in prison and so on. The righteous one asked him "when did we do all these to you"? He said: ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[c] you were doing it to me!’ What does that mean to you? It means humans are extension of God here on earth. What we do to men especially the brethren is counted as though we do it directly to Christ.

Until you start seeing humans as God's extension on earth, you may not understand the importance of giving and humanitarian services. There are many naked people on the streets in need of warmth, so many go to bed with hunger pangs at night and there are several innocent people in the prison crying for justice, what about the sick in the hospital? When you touch the lives of those that can't repay you, you touch the very heart of your heavenly father and it won't go unrewarded.
