Rev19:10 " ... For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus." NLT
I have read the verse of the scripture above for years but recently, a better understanding dawned on me. Prophecy is an inspired utterance, it is one of the gifts of the Spirit. 1Corinthians14:3 made it clear that prophecy must exhort, edify and comfort. When prophecy doesn't meet up with these three standard, it is not from God.
Looking at the real essence of prophecy, it is all about Christ. Every word of prophecy is meant to glorify Christ and bear witness about Christ. When prophecy is centred on man and it bears witness about the man, then the essence of such prophecy is eroded. Prophecy from the Spirit is Christ-centred and nothing more. It doesn't glorify man.
The bible was referred to as sure word of prophecy. When you look at the intent of the message in the bible from Genesis to Revelation, it is centred on one loving character- Jesus. You should ask yourself where people get divisive prophecies from. When prophecies betrays the nature and character of Christ, please discard it.
Be a student of the sure word of prophecy- the bible. Therein lies all the revelation you need for life and godliness.
Father, I refuse to be swayed by prophecies that doesn't glorify Christ In Jesus name. Amen
