'FOODFULL' BUT NOT FRUITFUL

June 03, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs23:2 And put a knife to thy throat if thou be a man given to appetite.

I was invited to minister in a church in Lagos on sunday. What happened while I was on that altar has never happened before since I started public ministry and it would never happen again because I have learnt my lesson. While on the altar, I had to stop the message twice to visit the toilet because I was purging heavily. I led the church in prayers and asked for the rest room.

I was sweating profusely, I handed the service over to one of the deacons, so he continued leading prayer. The congregation kept praying till I returned from the rest room on two different occasions. Thank God their eyes were closed, so they didn't know what happened, they probably thought it was a new style of preaching. Why did this happen? The previous night, I told my wife to cook my favourite- beans. I hadn't eaten beans for a very long time, I ate the beans heavily till I constipated.

My lack of self-control on beans resulted into a dismal outing. When I was leaving, the senior pastor warned me,he said ' when you want to preach, don't eat beans'. This may sound funny, but I learnt my lesson. Don't let your mouth and stomach control you. The writer of proverbs said we should learn to put a knife to our throat (referring to self-control). Many believers can't fast for a day because their belly is their master.

Listen to this, if you are 'foodfull', you cannot be fruitful. Watch it!

Action point

Father, I receive grace to control my appetite In Jesus name.
