Galatians5:22-23 But the Spirit produces love,... self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
A preacher was preaching on a certain day, his interpreter was a woman and a demon spoke to him that he should grab her. I perceive his mood must have changed but he had to control himself right there. Self control is the ability to hold oneself in. It the ability to restrict the self in us that wants to go haywire. Self wants pleasure, there is a self in us that's like a brute beast that must be tamed.
Every believer must exercise self control in sexual matters, temperament, food, money and power. Lack of self-control is the reason why a man would beat his wife out of anger, lack of self-control is what makes people to fight in the public, lack of self-control is the reason why a married man would chase anything in skirt just to satisfy his lustful pleasures whereas he has a pretty wife at home.
Let us beware of that thing in us that wants to go out of control. Jesus had the power to kill many of his oppositions in his days but he controlled his anger and he dealt with them wisely. What Joseph had was self-control when Potiphar's wife tried to lure him but Samson lacked self control and he ruined his destiny on the laps of a woman.
If you don't hold yourself in, self may expose and disgrace you.
