Malachi2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.
In the old testament, the priests and prophets were revered people. God also separated them from ordinary people and he put a mark of distinction on them. The priest is a custodian of knowledge and the law while the prophet is a custodian of revelation and mysteries.
As new testament believers, new birth has qualified us to become kings and priests unto God. God is expecting us to possess knowledge and teach it to the world. When unbelievers are confused and in need of clarity, God is expecting you to step on the scene and show the way. Jesus called us the light of the world, light is only needed where there is darkness.
Spreading the knowledge of salvation and bringing souls into the fold has now become a must for every believer. The words that should be found our lips should be words that edify and not words that pull down. When unbelievers mess-up, you don't hear people make much reference to their faith but when a Christian or even a Pastor errs, people make so much reference to his christian faith because they expect more.
Preserve your priestly status with dignity and sobriety because you're in a different class.
