James1:22- But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
Every sunday and during the week, believers all over the world attend their churches and one of the things that characterises a good assembly is teaching. On the other hand, some read this devotional daily in different parts of the world and we've received testimonies to the wonder working power in the word.
What is paramount to God is not in the volumes heard or read but in obedience or practice of what you hear or read on daily basis. At a time in my life, I placed priority on volumes read but now I've changed because I see that my rough edges weren't sharpened totally. Make it a point of duty to pick-up a 'to do' from God's word on daily basis.
A friend of mine once said that 'any gospel message that doesn't leave you with a responsibility isn't a responsible message'(paraphrasing). What it means is that there must be an instruction to perform after every message, there must be something you'll drop and pick-up from the word you've heard. That is how to profit from God's word.
Father henceforth, my life shall profit from your word In Jesus Name. Amen.
