PRINCIPLE OF TASK DELEGATION

March 14, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Acts6:3- And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. NLT

In the early church, they had a scheme for food distribution to the Greecian Jews and to the Hebraic-Jews. Complaints arose about the uneven distribution so the Apostles decided to commit the responsibility into the hands of the first seven deacons in church history. The word deacon is from the Greek word that means servant or helper. The work of a deacon is to help.

Before the seven deacons were chosen, the Apostles outlined some criteria for the choice of whom to choose and these includes: someone that earns the respect of the people, full of the Spirit and wisdom. I personally believe that if you want to delegate any task, it is best you take into consideration any of these criteria mentioned above. If people don't respect a leader, they won't listen to him. Respect is earned as a result of time tested and proven track record of integrity.

Also, the fellow must be full of the Spirit. Without the infilling of the Spirit, he/she is powerless. Wisdom must be available in the life of such individual. The lack of wisdom would lead to wrong decision-making. If we base our choices of task delegation on these scriptural criteria, our churches, businesses and organizations would experience growth.

Action point

I receive grace for effective task-delegation In Jesus Name. Amen
