Acts13:39 Everyone who believes in him is declared right with God—something the law of Moses could never do. NLT
I have read a little about religions of the world and watched some clips. One of such video clips that got me surprised was the Hindu worship at the ganges in India that attracted over 80million people(largest religious gathering in the world) at once so that they can be cleansed with water for the washing away of their sins.
My conclusion is that religion is trying to achieve righteousness through works, ritual, observance and a set of rules. That was what the law of Moses was also trying to achieve. Religion is man's way of trying to attain righteousness but Christianity is God's way of making us right with Him without works but by faith. Some argue that if the law of Moses isn't useful today, why is it in the bible? Many has forgotten that those laws are just a type of shadow of the real. So we need to know what was before we can walk in what is.
As new testament believers, we should follow the new testament's way of life as revealed by Jesus and the apostles. What Moses and the prophets struggled to achieve, we now have it. That's why the bible said we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Our level has changed and we aren't on the same pedestal with the Mosaic generation.
You can only enjoy the benefits that salvation brings if you live with this understanding.
CONFESSION: Father, thank you for sending your son to save me. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and I'm not bound by the law anylonger. Grace has beautified me and love way is my way of life. Glory!
