Luke12:15-Then he said, "Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own."
NLT
I have seen some people that measure a man's worth with his wears and accessories. Some even weigh a man's worth by the car he drives and the kind of house he lives in. All these aren't the true worth of any man. Recently, I read about how some financial evaluators began to measure what some preachers are worth, all that isn't necessary because the gospel isn't a merchandise.
The quest for a good reputation with men especially as regards 'things' has led some people to be greedy. Jesus saw that happening in his day, he probably saw some men that wanted a high rating in the public and hence became greedy. Always wanting to acquire things at all cost. Christ warned that your true worth isn't in the things you acquire but in what God's assessment is about you.
Greed is a vice that creeps into our lives unnoticed and it moves with a sister demon called covetousness. God wants you to be free from greed that is why he said we should guard against it because it creeps in easily. Why are our politicians killing themselves to get power? Even student politics has become a mess as the future leaders have developed a clandestine system of raking funds into their pocket.
Face greed and conquer it, it may cost you your destiny. Ask Judas.
father, deliver me from greed In Jesus Name.
