THE PATH TO TRUE FREDOM

February 10, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

2Pet2:19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you. NLT

Recently, I was discussing with someone about the spiritual problems most people face in the western world and their approach to solving them. One of the most common things you'll find is addiction to drugs, acute depression, intimidation and numerous disorders that requires psychiatry attention. Though, some Africans face these problems too.

In America, there are lots of rehabilitation programmes for people found in such addictions. Most of those programmes promises freedom but both the organizers and the comers keep getting enslaved all over again. I have seen tips on how to stop watching pornography but when those tips work for a while, the comers fall into it. People forget that there are demons behind these disorders. Carnal knowledge can't be used to solve spiritual problems.

True freedom is found in Christ and not in special psychological programmes. When a man is enslaved to alcohol or other vices, it is only by responding to grace through Christ that freedom can come. Some are trying to conquer addiction with do's and don't's. They could be helpful but when you don't allow the source (demons) to be dealt with, you'll return to your vomit.

Action point

I receive freedom from(...mention the bad habit) and I cast out the spirit of (...the name of the addiction is also the name of the spirit) In Jesus name.
