1John3:9 Those who have been born into God's family do not make a practice of sinning, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they are children of God. NLT
The life of a new creation is a wonderful life and a succinct way to describe it is by using the word 'supernatural'. A new creation's challenge is not sin because sin cannot Lord over him/her any more. Rom6:14. The grace to live above sin has been made available to a new creation and hence no need to be live a sin-conscious life.
1john3:9 has been misunderstood for long by some christians and even theologians. Some interpret it to mean that a Christian will not sin at all but is that true? Is there any Christian that hasn't sinned since the day he/she got saved? We all know that isn't true except we want to deny the truth. One of the principles of hermaneutics (interpretation of bible) is that any portion of the scripture to be interpreted must be practicable. So what is that scripture trying to say?
What it means is that a christian does not make a practice of sin. He doesn't do it
Or live it as a life style. That is why the book of 1John2:1 says 'But IF anyone does sin, we have an advocate...', that scripture didn't say 'when we sin'. What the former meant is that peradventure it happens, a provision for pardon has been made. Glory! A true believer won't sin deliberately or make a practice of it because grace to live above sin is available.
Don't live a sin-conscious life like some do. The more you are sin-conscious, the more you'll fall into it. Be Christ-conscious and you'll live a victorious life.
CONFESSION: The grace of God is upon me to live a victorious Christian life. Glory!!! I am empowered from within to live like Christ and will never make a practice of sin.
