YOU AND THE ANOINTED

Mark 6:[5] And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. [6] And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then Jesus went from village to village, teaching the people. NLT

Pastor E.A. Adeboye shared a story about how a man insisted on seeing him. His associates told this man that he wouldn't be able to see him until late in the afternoon because he was in a session of long prayers. The man insisted he'll wait.

Later in the day, pastor E.A.Adeboye came out of his prayer closet. Then he saw the man who had waiting to see him. He asked the man what he wanted. The man said, "I want  a handshake". Pastor Adeboye was surprised that all he waited long to get from him was a handshake.

One would have thought he wanted long prayers but all he wanted was a handshake. He released his faith for what he wanted and handshake was the medium of contact with the anointing. I won't be surprised If he returns to share an earth-shaking testimony.

Now,pastor Adeboye said he normally shake hands with most of his pastors working with him on the way to his office but they do not value it like the other man because of familiarity. That is what unfettered access and familiarity does to those around the anointed.

In Jesus' hometown, he couldn't heal the sick because of familiarity syndrome. They despised him and probably made statements like: "Is that not Jesus the son of Joseph the carpenter? When did he become a miracle worker? He must be joking".

The help some need can be gotten through their pastor, a friend or family member graced by God but they cannot take advantage of that grace because of familiarity. Wives, children and families of pastors must be careful in this regard.

Some pastor's wives&children keep running into trouble without solution in sight because they despised the anointing of their anointed husbands. Parents&families having the anointed as families have this problem too. They respect & honour the grace of God on another preacher but not their own. Some siblings of preachers are not humble to ask for prayers but they go far to meet another preacher in town to agree with them in prayers, even with a seed in their hands.

Avoid becoming too familiar with the anointed. Do not take access for granted. Even If you have been granted unfettered access, do not abuse it. Beware, do not turn the anointed to your playmate even If he wants to. What God can do through him for you outweighs "playing" together. Do not allow familiarity get in the way.

Action Point:

Be deliberate about honouring families and friends God has called into the ministry. That is how you can benefit from the grace of God upon their lives.
