MERCY SEED
One prayer point that is common in most of our churches today is the prayer of 'mercy'. Someone somewhere is asking for God's mercy as I speak. That's not bad. There's a dimension of God's mercy that is sovereign. God normally show that kind of mercy unconditionally. It is not dependent on what we do or what we didn't do. It is not dependent on prayer or our background. That's the kind of mercy Paul was referring to in Romans9:15.
However, I believe there is another dimension of mercy that answer to the law of sowing of reaping. In the opening text, Jesus himself told us that those who are merciful shall obtain mercy. Another way of putting that statement is: 'those that show mercy to others shall reap a harvest of mercy in return'. Certain things answer to the seed you've sown in times past. You may cry in prayers from now till kingdom come, if your seeds are not right, your harvest cannot be right.
There are believers that do not have an iota of mercy in them. They are wicked and vindictive. They haven't shown mercy to their neighbours, friends and families yet they want to receive abundance of mercy from God. Apostle Paul rightly said that God cannot be mocked, a man would reap what he sow(Gal6:7). It would be mockery on the part of God if people start harvesting what they didn't sow. I have a friend whose dad was wicked and tight fisted when he was alive. He took over the family's estate and failed to give his siblings their share of the rent. After he died, his children began to suffer neglect because others did to them what their dad did. Sow mercy, reap mercy.
