James5:17-18 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. NIV
Recently, I read about Elijah and his exploits in Israel. I didn't know when I started asking God for the type of anointing on Elijah. Not many in the bible had the anointing to call idolaters to a contest but this prophet did(1Kings18). That was heroic. His exploit didn't stop there. He closed the heavens so that rain won't fall and kept the keys in his pocket. You know what I mean? He said rain won't fall except at his word(1Kings17:1). That was no mean feat. However, in 1Kgs 19, Elijah ran from a witch. You know her. The fiery Prophet ran away from Jezebel. She was the wife of Ahab. She was the daughter of Eth Baal.
Her ancestry was covenanted to demons. When Elijah dealt with the prophet of Baal and killed them, she swore by her god that she would kill Elijah. Someone must have informed Elijah about Jezebel's resolve. Instead of praying, he took to his heels. One would have expected that a man of his calibre would have dealt with a witch without stress. In my opinion, it seems the demons in Jezebel were stronger than those in the 450 slained prophets of Baal put together. His flight showed his human side. That part of him that could be fearful and jittery. Apostle James said Elijah was just like us. Like us? Yes!
Sometimes we act so powerfully under the anointing but the next moment, we may act like faithless Thomas. There are times we flow in the realm of revelation but at other times, we act confused when faced with crucial decisions. That goes to show that there is no superhuman in the natural. Sometimes, we cry when we should be bold. Though Elijah commanded fire to fall, his human weaknesses were there but he did something that silenced his fears. The Bible said "he prayed". That was what he did. The moment he prayed, he became super human but when he ran from Jezebel, there was no record that he prayed. Maybe if he had taken time to stay with God in prayers on Mount Carmel, he may have been positioned to deal with Jezebel. If you can soak yourself in constant fervent prayers, especially praying in the Spirit, your fears will submerge and you'll begin to operate in the super human dimension.
CONFESSION: I awaken the giant within. I launch into the super human dimensions available to me in Christ Jesus. Amen
