HOW DO YOU WANT TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS ?

Matthew1:21 *And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” NLT

I have witnessed several Christmas celebrations for more than three decades. When I was a kid, I loved the season so much because it comes with lots of excitement and new things. For sure, I knew dad and mum must buy new clothes and shoes for us. Those days, I have certain places I visit on Christmas day. Any time I visit those places, I was given a nice treat and some money must enter my pocket. For me, it was time to make a little money, wear my new clothes and show myself to the those around me. However, I didn't focus on the person at the centre of the celebration. Some celebrate Christmas with plenty alcohol.

Though the celebration of Christmas was the brain child of the old Roman Catholic Church. The early apostles didn't celebrate it neither was it recorded in the canon scriptures. There's no need arguing further with history on that, but the church world has come to accept this day as the the time that Jesus was born though it is highly debatable. I don't want to go into those arguments. What I know is that Jesus came to the world. He had a birthday like every other person and it wouldn't be a bad idea celebrating his birth as the incarnate son of God. What should matter to us is the person at the centre of the celebration.

So many are celebrating Christmas yet they don't know Christ. Christmas celebration should be about Christ, his purpose for coming to the world and evangelism. This is the time to tell our world about this wonderful, loving saviour who left his glory in heaven to die like a criminal. This season is good for that though every day is good to tell the wonderful story of his love. It is not about chicken, it is not about clothes, shoes and expensive decorations. There are many sinners celebrating Christmas whereas, the birth of Christ was for the purpose of taking their sins away. If you haven't given your life to Christ and you don't have the blessed hope of eternity with Christ in heaven, Christmas celebration isn't for you yet until you settle with God by accepting Jesus Christ into your life.

Say this prayer out loud: 'Father, I know I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal saviour. I accept him into my heart today. I will go and sin no more. Write my name in the book of life. In Jesus name. Amen. Thank you Jesus'

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR AHEAD
