PROVIDE FOR THEM
Sometimes ago, a young boy hawking mangoes came to me. He compelled me to buy his mangoes because his feeding was dependent on the sales of the mangoes. My wife was with me and we pitied that small boy's condition. When i asked him the amount he wanted me to buy, he said i should buy N50 mangoes. That's way too small to feed that young lad. There are many homes today where parents force minors to work so that they can eat. It is very unscriptural.
When apostle Paul spoke to Timothy about the issue of providing for one's family, he declared that whoever does not provide for his own household, such a fellow has denied the faith and worse than an unbeliever. Even if the person is a preacher, deacon or elder in church. It would surprise you to know that there are church people who fall into this category. They maybe fervent in church and loyal to the pastor. Some may even give big offerings and are nice to people outside but when it comes to providing for their own family members, they fail.When children are thrown out of the home to fend for themselves or the family early in life, they may be introduced to the wrong side of life.
God has placed those children under your care so that you can provide for their basic needs: Clothing, shelter, feeding&good education. Do not raise a family size that is beyond what your financial capacity can handle. Don't send them to school you cannot afford to pay their fees. When children are sent out of school for not paying school fees, it affects them. Wives should not abandon the financial responsibilities of the home to their husbands alone, providing for the home should be a collaborative effort.
