The story of Marilyn Laszlo touched me deeply, it made me resolute to do whatever God has assigned for me in my life time. I watched a short video documentary of her missionary effort titled: RETURN TO HAUNA. Marilyn heard God’s call at age 12, studied linguistics and then lived 23 years in the jungle village of Hauna in Papua New Guinea translating God’s Word for people who never had a written language, let alone a verse of the Bible.
This female Apostle sacrificed the comfort of the West to live among the Sepik Iwam people whose lives does not have a touch of civilization. They wore what looked like leaves on their bodies while some walked around almost stark naked. She decided to work on translating the bible into their language. She was assisted by 14 teenagers from the village whom she discipled. Those 14 teenagers grew in the Lord and they are now the ministers in the church she planted in their community. After over two decades of working to see the Hauna people worship the living God and to have a bible translation in their language, she returned to her home country.
Till date, men and women are still worshiping God in Hauna because she showed them the light. She didn't leave them the way she met them. Her life of sacrifice to see God's kingdom established among the Sepik Iwam people made her to remain a single. She's the author of Mission Possible. What makes Marilyn so special is that she doesn’t think she is special. She believes she’s just an ordinary person who serves an extraordinary God – that's the story of a woman that is sold out to God. What shall heaven say about your life?
