Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. NIV
I have been in several meetings where we were told to raise our bibles and brandish it like a sword in prayer. In fact, some believe their printed bible is a sword so whenever they're confronted with issues, they raise it up for warfare. The extreme of it i've heard is that some people would stand on the bible with their bare feet claiming they're standing on the word. That's crass ignorance. If it was easy to defeat the devil by waving the bible in the air and brandishing it like a sword or by standing on it, virtually everyone would have dealt with the devil by now because bibles can be bought easily in book stores.
The bible calls the sword of the Spirit the word of God. The Greek rendition of that phrase is 'Rhema Theos'. The written word is referred to as 'Logos' in the Greek but the spoken word is known as 'Rhema'. When Paul said we should use the sword of the Spirit( word of God) in warfare, he was referring to 'Rhema Theos'- the spoken word of God. It is not that big black leather giant print bible that would get the job done but the spoken word of God in your mouth rooted in faith.
The devil is not afraid of the printed bible neither is he afraid of the size of your bible but he is afraid of the spoken word of God in your mouth. As you declare the word of God over that situation and circumstance, the devil would flee. When satan tempted Jesus, my Lord conquered him by speaking what was written in God's word. He didn't do any gymnastics with a big bible, he spoke God's word. This is the time to start declaring the written word of God. That's the surest way to victorious living.
