EPHESIANS 6:18 Part 3

April 26, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Ephesians 6:18 In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. MSG

PRAY FOR OTHERS

Prayer should not be about you alone. As we walk with God and grow in the things of the Spirit, we would be led and directed by the Spirit from time to time to pray for people specifically. Sometimes, God may place a prayer burden on your heart for someone or a group of people. The wisest thing to do is to obey that prompting quickly. Even when there's no special leading, it is biblical to pray for others.

We need to know that our lives are connected in one way or the other. When it is well with your brother or sister in Christ, then it is well with you. When a part of the body is in pains, it would be felt by the whole body. Thats a good description about our connectivity as saints. In God's family, we are a body. One of the ways to keep that body healthy and united is when we pray for one another. Do not mock your brother that is facing one challenge or the other. I have seen some believers fail in this regard. Instead of praying for a brother facing a challenge, they'll either backbite or accuse the person of sinning.

The bible says we should bear the burden of one another, Gal6:2. How can we bear the burden of our brothers in Christ? It is through prayer. There are times you need to deliberately go to the place of prayer because of that brother or sister whose life is in dire need of God's help. Instead of backbiting and running a pity party, just get on your knees and pray. Haven't you read that if you refresh others, you will be refreshed in return,Prov11:25? Your prayer labour over the brethren is a tool of refreshment.

Action point

Adopt someone for regular prayer. You may not need to tell him or her, just keep praying the will of God into the life of that fellow.
