EPHESIANS 6:18 Part 4

April 27, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Ephesians 6:18 In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. MSG

KEEP EACH OTHER'S SPIRITS UP

Another assignment we have towards one another is to ensure that none of us falls behind. There is a tradition among Christians of old. After praying for one another, they check on one another to ensure that the person is still in the faith. They do this not because they want to mock or gossip but because they want to strengthen the brethren. Their purpose for visitation was to ensure they're carrying everyone along in the faith.

Today, much of what we see among the brethren is gossip, backbiting and back stabbing. Some believers do not care whether a brother or sister is still in the faith. I have seen ministers gossip about an erring brethren yet they didn't pray, rebuke or correct the fellow. Yet, they kept talking about the fellow. That way, we are tearing down and not building up. If some believers fall into sin, instead of praying and giving out instruction in righteousness, some will spread the bad news around town. What do you stand to gain with that? Is there any pleasure in discussing the fall of other believers?

Dearest, you have a vital role to play in the life of that brother with weak feet. Apostle Paul enjoined that we should gently restore those that fall into sin in the spirit of meekness lest we fall victim of thesame temptation, Gal6:1. Self-righteousness is not permitted in this race. The Spirit of Christ seeks to restore the lost, strengthen the weak and edify the saints. When i see believers mudslinging one another, i know that the old serpent is at work. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. That's one of your kingdom roles.

Action point

Father, i receive the grace to play my kingdom role in the life of my brother In Jesus name.
