Years back, I became confused and tired of field ministry because things weren't moving as i expected. I was suffering and I felt my life was backward. I began to think of how to make my lot better in ministry. As I moved round the city of Lagos, I saw young men like me in church posters as senior Pastors. Immediately, I began to mull the idea of starting a church in a choice area in Lagos. However, I knew it would be wise to ask God for direction. I prayed but God didn't say anything. I decided to tell the man who mentored me in missions. I told him about what I was planning to do. I noticed he listened without interruption, then he asked me, "what did God tell you in the beginning"? I became silent and I knew God was saying something through him.
In the beginning when I entered into the ministry, I knew what God told me but what I was planning to do was not in the picture at all. The condition I found myself prompted the plans I wanted to execute. Dearest, let me ask you the same question, "what did God tell you in the beginning"? There is great danger in deviating from God's master plan.When challenges come while in God's will, that is not the time to start seeking for alternative direction as a way of escape. The presence of challenges does not necessarily mean you're out of God's will, most times it is part of the process. Sometimes, we put ourselves under unnecessary pressure trying to hear from God after knowing God's mind on what he said initially.
At other times, we may get tired of God's will even when we haven't started. When God told Abraham to leave his father and mother's house, he didn't pitch his tent with a relative when the going became tough because he knew the instruction he received initially. Don't reverse your life ten years back by deviating from what God told you in the beginning. If God has a new pursuit for you, he would tell you while you're faithfully executing the one he gave to you. Get busy with the last instruction. The road may be rough but sticking to that last instruction pays. Before you change gear and swerve to another lane, "what did God tell you in the beginning"?
Father, I receive the grace to stay on my lane in purpose without looking left and right. Give me the grace to stick to the last instruction in Jesus name
