Proverbs12:22 The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. NLT
Some years ago as a student seeking admission, I lived on and around campus. A colleague once cooked lies that he planned telling his father so that he can get some money. He needed an accomplice who will consent to his lies. He came to me and told me all he wanted to tell his dad. He told me that he needed me to nod in affirmation in the presence of his dad. Being a friend, I thought it wise to help him out by consenting to his robust lies. His dad was a dental doctor in the teaching hospital. When we got to his office, my colleague began to lie fluently and I began to nod in affirmation. I didn't speak a word but I acted as though all he said was perfectly true.
There is no difference between a liar and those that consent to lies as though it is true. God hates both. Lies ruin relationships. Marriages have broken because of lies, business deals have crumbled because of lies as well. I have heard of people who hid something about their past from their spouses and their families acted along. The discovery of such hidden secret always lead to a strain in relationship. Jesus said that the natural language of the devil is lies because the truth cannot be found in him. John 8:44, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it"( KJV).
If you lay the foundation of anything with lies, it will surely crumble. Don't build your relationship on lies and deceit. If you start a journey on lies, you may not get to your destination. There is nothing called white lies. A wise man said, "white lies leave black marks". Beware of things and situations that may want to put you under pressure to lie. Lies can be told and acted. When you act a lie, it can be likened to putting on a mask to prevent the real thing from being exposed. No thanks to social media. People promote themselves on social media with lies, they snap with a car that is not theirs making it look as though they own fleet of cars. Your judgement of people these days shouldn't be based on what you see on social media. Why buy water from an eatery and come out with tooth pick acting as though you just finished eating full chicken? Stop wearing mask of lies. Matshona Dhliwayo said, "If you wear a mask for too long, there will come a time when you can not remove it without removing your face".
Father, I receive the grace to speak and act the truth at all times in Jesus name.
