In Agricultural science class, I was taught about the stem borer. This insect bore holes in stems of plants and eat it up even while standing. The plant may look healthy from afar but it has no life and stamina any longer because its vitality is depleted. A little wind may blow it down or just a small contact would make it fall flat. The stem borer can be symbolic of secret sins eating up a believer.
Sometimes, the devil deals with believers using secret sins. He knows that some sins can be detected easily so he goes the way of secrecy. For example It is impossible to know someone that is masturbating because it is a secret sin. Unfortunately, some believers are struggling with this sin. One of the deceits of the enemy is to tell us to keep secret sins secret so that he can eat up our vitality. There are many weak believers singing, dancing and probably speaking in tongues but they have been eaten up on the inside. What is left is just an outward glow, no inner strength.
David was a worshipper. He wrote many Psalms and he was God's anointed yet he battled secret sins. He cried to the Lord: "purge thou me from my secret sins". To be free from secret sins, you need to cry to the Lord like David did and confide in a counselor that can help you through it. You need someone to hold you accountable. Your victory over secret sins begins the moment you expose it. However, do not talk to someone that cannot keep confidence. Your journey to victory starts now, take a bold step and let God help you.
