Micah7:8 'Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.
I read the story of Lachhiman Gurung on the internet. In 1945, he was stationed in a trench with only two other men when over 200 Japanese soldiers opened fire. Gurung's comrades were severely wounded. As grenades flew in one after another, Gurung tried to throw each one back. He was successful with the first two, but the third exploded in his right hand. His fingers were blown off and his face, body, and right arm and leg were badly wounded.
As the Japanese stormed the trench, Gurung used his left hand to wield his rifle, defeating 31 enemies and preventing the Japanese from advancing. Gurung survived, and was awarded with a Victoria Cross later that year. He got wounded in battle but he overcame at last. Apostle Paul told Timothy that he was a soldier of Christ and by extension, every child of God is also a soldier of Christ. "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ"(2Tim2:3). In God's kingdom, we are military men in a battle.
It is possible for a soldier to die in battle. That's a loss to the army. Another possibility is for a soldier to be wounded like Samson. In God's army, a wounded soldier can be restored and victorious. I am speaking to those who were once on fire for God but missed it along the way through carelessness and sin. The devil may have told you that it is impossible for you to bounce back and stronger but I'm here to tell you that God can restore you and make you victorious in the battle. God is a God of another chance. He did it for Samson when he prayed: "Then Samson prayed to the LORD, “Sovereign LORD, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. With one blow let me pay back the Philistines for the loss of my two eyes”(Judges16:28).
Father, restore me.
