DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF THE WOUND
In my few years of walking with God, I have met a few persons who admitted that they veered off the track. One of them told me about his exploits as a kingdom soldier but he also told me what led to the fall that altered his ministerial progress. The most vivid encounter I had with a kingdom soldier that was wounded but restored was a man whom I personally sat under his ministrations and drank from his well of scriptural depth those days. He was anointed but he lost it to immorality and debauchery. I lost contact with him for a long time but the last time we met, he said, "I was wounded in the battle but I thank God I did not die in the battle". For those of us who knew him back in the days, we understood the depth of those words. I was joyful hearing those words because I knew how far he could have gone if he had remained consistent with God.
It is one thing to be wounded but it is another thing to know what caused the wound and the extent of injury. Restoration is not possible until the wound is properly diagnosed. When you go to the hospital, doctors take their time to ask relevant questions and examine their patients to know the cause of their ailments. Apostle Paul enjoined we do same for ourselves: "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?(2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV). The prodigal son diagnosed his condition properly and he saw that he sunk so low beyond the level of his father's slaves. His restoration was a product of self diagnosis( Luke15:11-32).
If you truly desire restoration, you must identify the cause of the wound in the first place and stay away from it. It is only careless and insensitive soldiers that play with the object that caused them wound. After the eyes of Samson were removed, I'm very sure he would not want to hear any name that starts with letter "D" let alone coming close to a sister/lady named Delilah. This is the time to be sincere with yourself, ask probing questions about what led you to this point and cut off from things causing you wound in the battle of faith. It is until after you do these you can pray the prayer of David in Psalms51:12, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit".(Psalms 51:12 KJV)
