RESTORATION FOR THE WOUNDED SOLDIER Part 5

Romans13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

AVOID THE TRIGGER

Guns are not made to release bullets automatically without pulling the trigger. The only exception to that is when there is a hit strong enough to actuate the firing mechanism of a loaded gun such as when a gun is dropped on the ground or any other object. That is the firing mechanism in all guns even the popular Automatic Kalashnikov(AK-47). We can liken this analogy to the life of a believer. Something always triggers a fall; it is not automatic. I was talking to someone sometime ago that most times if we sin and call it "mistake", they aren't mistakes in the sense of James 1:14: "A man is tempted to do wrong when he lets himself be led by what his bad thoughts tell him to do". That's how God sees it. Every sin starts from within before it finds expression without.

One reason why kingdom soldiers may suffer wound in their Christian journey is because they trigger the flesh by feeding it gradually and by being surrounded by what may give it expression. Samson's fall was not in one single day. He must have given lust a place in his heart. Gradually, he found himself in an environment where lustful passion could be expressed. Before Delilah struck the final blow on him, we saw that he had formed the habit of philandering. Wounds do not get inflicted in our warfare all of a sudden, the devil does it gradually and calculatingly, waiting for a good time to strike a deadly blow. That you're getting away with it today does not mean it would always be like that.

Do not be overconfident in this warfare; the beginning of a fall is to think you're immune to the tricks of the devil. The great apostle warned us in 1Cor10:12, "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall". If you have been wounded before, avoid whatever can trigger falling into the same sin that wounded you previously. You may need to delete some numbers on your phone, break certain ties and relationships, change your circle of friends and sometimes your environment. To avoid being wounded, that unholy chat at ungodly hours with the opposite sex must stop now. If you've gotten to that point where you have to speak codedly when you receive calls and delete SMS because of your spouse, a wound may be inflicted sooner than you think. You cannot sleep on the laps of Delilah and expect to wake up in the bosom of Abraham. Avoid the trigger.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace not to make provision for the flesh in Jesus name.
