THE POWER OF EARNEST PRAYERS

May 07, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

James5:17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! NLT

I read some books on prayer years ago and those books revolutionized my understanding about prayer and it helped in reshaping my prayer life- ' 7 Great Prayer Warriors' and ' Why Revival Tarries'. There were men in history that single-handedly prayed down revival and settled matters concerning generations yet unborn on their knees.

Elijah was a man just like you. He had his fears, short-comings and down moments. You'll be surprised to know that after performing a wonderful feat by calling down fire, Elijah ran away from a 'mere' woman- Jezebel. Can you imagine a national prophet running from a national witch?

With all that Elijah was, the human side of him showed that he wasn't superhuman but he prayed and things happened. Regardless of your fears, background, your denomination, issues and challenges, your earnest prayers can change the course of history even for generations yet unborn and set the nations on fire for God.

Don't doubt what God can do through your prayers, get on your knees now and let's pray.

Action point

Father, baptize me with the Spirit of prayer and supplication In Jesus name.
