2Cor5:19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. NLT
Apostle Paul said God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself. What does it mean to reconcile? It is to restore broken relationship between feuding parties. The moment man fell into sin, the relationship between God and man was strained. God created man for His pleasure but man sided with the enemy (Satan) of God. The purpose of Christ's death was to reconcile men back to God. Surprisingly, man was not the one who sought reconciliation. It was all God's idea. Though man was guilty but Paul said that God is no longer counting people's sins against them. Hallelujah!!!
If I offend a man that can kill me, I should be the one seeking reconciliation but in the case of our father in heaven, he brought reconciliation to our doorstep telling us he won't count our sins against us. "Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them."(Romans4:8). This is for those in Christ. Only those that have accepted Jesus can boldly say, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."( 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
We need to understand what Christ came to do. The moment we lose sight of the purpose of the cross, we may preach fire and brimstone messages but it won't change lives and souls won't be won. As a soul winner, you must have a grasp of the gospel in its simplicity and present it to sinners the way it is in the bible. The only message we have for the lost is the message of reconciliation between God and man. Apostle Paul said, "...And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him."(2 Corinthians 5:18 NLT). Any gospel that is not focused on reconciliation through Christ is "another gospel." Don't preach it.
Father, I receive the grace to present the gospel in truth and with simplicity. Lord give me souls in the name of Jesus Christ.
