2Cor 5: 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. NLT
I studied a little about world religions. I noticed that religion is trying to offer something in exchange for forgiveness. Religion try to use do's and don'ts to attain salvation. In the Hare Krishna, one of their devotion includes two hours of chanting on daily basis and a life of celibacy. Married folks among them are permitted to have sex once in a month. That's how far they go to become clean.
The Hindus are afraid of coming back to the world as an animal, they try to use good "karma" (action) to evade bad reincarnation so that they can be absorbed into the spirit( Brahman) that controls the universe. In other to achieve forgiveness, some Hindus go to the river ganges to bath yearly so that their sins can be forgiven. Religion has failed man in that what it prescribes cannot solve the problem of sin. God offered Christ as the sacrifice for sin once and for all. "But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand."(Heb10:12).
There's no need to offer anything for sin again. You cannot 'work' for forgiveness of sins, Christ has paid for it. Don't you think it is better to take a finished product than to try making a product you cannot manufacture successfully? What God expect from you is to put your faith in what Christ has done. He is God's sacrifice for your sins. Most times, guilt results from wrong believing. That's why there are unbelievers who think God cannot forgive them. Tell the sinner to believe in Jesus and accept him because his sins has been paid for.
Father, thank you for your precious offering. Help me to preach this truth to unbelievers in Jesus name.
